Symphyotrichum laevis (Smooth Aster)

This fall beauty has an erect, slender habit. Leaves are variable in size and shape, but are generally narrow and up to four inches in length. The flowers are borne on open panicles of numerous heads. Smooth Aster occurs on dry, open sites and does well in natural gardens, dry prairies and in containers.

Additional Information:
The Maskawki Indians burned this plant for its aromatic smoke which could be a stimulant to revive the unconcious.
