Frank's Sedge grows best in very wet ground. It occurs naturally in bottomland forests, edges of streams and ponds, wet prairies, and moist areas on the edge of roadsides and crop fields. This sedge is common throughout Missouri except in the northwestern corner of the state. Frank's Sedge has sharply triangular stems and flowers from June to July. The flowers are located in 3-8 large spikes at the tip of stem.
