Common Name: Spanish Oak
This fast-growing and adaptable oak is a southern look-alike to the Pin Oak. The acorns are 3/4" - 1-1/4" long and are covered by a 1/3" - 1/2" cap. A native to the Mississippi Valley, it is tolerant of high pH and wet soils. It drops its leaves in winter earlier than most oaks.
