Common Name: Hop Sedge
This unique-looking perennial sedge produces light green flowers from June through August that are shaped like hops or pineapples. Hop sedges like very wet soils and common habitats include wet woods, swamps, wet prairies, moist depressions in upland prairies, and roadside swales. This species forms scattered clumps and is relatively rare to common throughout most of Missouri.
