Common Name: Fringed Sedge
This distinctive sedge flowers from May to July and has very slender erect male flowers that are separate from the characteristic long drooping narrow female flowers. Fringed Sedge grows in dense clumps in wet meadows, swamps, sloughs, moist upland prairies, and margins of bodies of water. It does not grow in standing water. Fringed Sedge has sharply triangular stems and the margins of leaves are rough to the touch.
