Andropogon virginicus (Broom Sedge)

An indicator species found on sterile sites or high-acid soils of old fields and pastures. It is occasionally found in prairies. The flattened stem bases are broad and shiny. There are multiple flower clusters at the terminus of each stalk. Provides moderate cover.
