Tridens flavus (Purple Top)

Purple Top is a warm season bunchgrass that grows from two feet to five feet tall. From August to September, its characteristic purple spikelets are formed. This grass is well-adapted to sandy, wooded areas and to shallow soils. It prefer droughty, infertile soil but can also be found in bottomlands.
