Penstemon tubaeflorus
Common Name: Prairie Beard Tongue
Blooms from mid-spring to mid-summer with spires of tubular white flowers arranged in 'ring' or tight clusters around strong, slender stems with the main leaves appearing well below the flowers. Flower clusters, similar to Foxglove Beard Tongue, are narrower.

Ratibida columnifera
Common Name: Prairie Coneflower
Prairie coneflower blooms in mid-July, often producing many "hat-shaped" flowers. Flower heads consist of several hundred tiny, purplish-brown flowers that form a cylinder about one to two inches long and about 1/2 inch across with bright yellow reflexed petals.
Prairie Coneflower is drought-resistant and grows best in well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil and full sun.
