Solidago riddellii
Solidago riddellii
Common Name: Riddell's Goldenrod
This goldenrod species is a somewhat rare native perennial which occurs only in wet meadows. Tiny, bright yellow flowers are held in dense, flat-topped clusters atop stiff stems typically growing three to four feet tall. Flowers bloom late summer to early autumn. Leaves are narrow and lance-shaped. Goldenrods have been wrongly accused of causing hay fever which is actually an allergic reaction to wind-borne pollen from other plants such as ragweed. Attractive to bees and butterflies.
