Boltonia asteroides
Boltonia asteroides
Common Name: False Aster
This is a lovely and easy-to-grow addition for the late summer to early fall garden. False Aster typically occurs in wet prairies, wet meadows, marshes, stream banks and pond peripheries. Lance-shaped, gray-green leaves (to five inches long) grow on erect, usually branching stems growing to four feet tall. Tiny, white to lavender, one-inch daisy-like flowers with yellow center grow in loose panicles. The flowers literally cover this aster-like plant with a profuse bloom from late summer to early autumn. False aster is easily grown in average to well-drained moist soils in full sun.
