Asclepias purpurascens
Asclepias purpurascens
Common Name: Purple Milkweed
An attractive deep pink to purple flower. Blooms sparsely in low, dry areas of shady woods. The familiar milkweed pod forms on a curlicue stem, much like a pig's tail. The plant is quite striking and will grow with little care in a garden. This species also attracts many flying insects and would be a great addition to a butterfly garden.
