Common Name: Fox Sedge
This attractive perennial sedge is very common throughout Missouri and the U.S. This species colonizes readily and is found in bottomland prairies, moist areas in dry prairies, pond and lake margins, along streams, and in virtually all wetland habitats. The characteristic yellowish brown seedheads spray out from the center of the plant and resemble a fox's tail.
