Rosy Sedge forms thick tufts or clumps in bottomland forests and wet areas in upland forests. It is also occasionally found along moist streambanks and the edges of fens. This petite species has short rhizomes and small rounded spikelets of flowers. Flowering stems appear between April and June and are mostly longer than the leaves, which are approximately 1 foot in length. The margins of the seeds have very small toothed margins.
